About

Salvatore Fazio

Digital experience design across UX, interaction design, digital learning, AR, interactive web and public-facing digital experiences.

I'm Salvatore Fazio, a digital experience designer working across UX, interaction design, digital learning, AR, interactive web and public-facing digital experiences.

My work focuses on guided digital experiences: digital layers that help people understand places, services, stories and complex ideas through structure, interaction and context.

My work is strongest at the point where strategy, design and implementation meet: shaping the idea, designing the flow, understanding the physical or learning context, and turning concepts into working digital experiences.

My background spans games, visual communication design, research-led AR, heritage interpretation, institutional learning projects, 360 media, web systems and client delivery. Across that work, the thread has stayed consistent: designing digital experiences that make complex things easier to understand without adding unnecessary friction.

How I work

I start with the experience, not the technology.

AR, AI, 360 media, mobile web, audio, video, maps and interactive displays can all be useful, but only when they fit the moment in the user journey. My role is to understand the context, structure the content, design the interaction and choose the right form of digital support.

For public-facing experiences, I care about clarity, low friction, fallback options and practical delivery. The goal is not just to create an impressive demo. The goal is to create something people can understand, enter and use in the real environment.

Background

My professional background includes work across games, UX, interactive web, digital learning, AR heritage research and public-facing institutional projects.

At QUT's VISER Lab, I worked on interactive digital experiences for research, learning and public engagement, including 360 learning, large-screen public interactives, AR experiences and web-based interpretation projects.

Through Wicked Interactive Storytelling, I have designed and delivered client-facing digital experiences, websites, guided presentations and mobile-first digital layers for physical and public-facing contexts.

Earlier experience in the games industry gave me a practical foundation in systems, interaction, prototyping and implementation. That background still shapes how I think about experience design: not just as screens, but as systems of action, feedback, context and use.

Selected focus

I'm currently focused on guided digital experiences for places, learning, services and public-facing content. This includes digital layers for signage, exhibitions, visitor centres, property presentations, service explainers and other contexts where people need help understanding something in a clear, structured way.
